Summer is the busiest time of the year at the box office and we are honoured to see some of the best and most entertaining movies of the year. Hell hath no ‘Fury’ like the Germans scorned!

Fury is a quintessential war movie that yet again reminds us of what horrors men are capable of when they wage war. It portrays and reveals the story of a lonely tank squad from the US army’s 66th armoured regiment, the second armoured division during the finishing days of the Second World War, and how they struggle to survive and endure in the face of un-seemingly terrible odds, behind enemy lines, in Nazi Germany. Starring in the lead role, as the central protagonist, is Brad Pitt who dons the character of a US sergeant Don ‘War Daddy’ Collier. He is a battle-hardened veteran who has experienced ...

4 reasons “Edge of Tomorrow” was such a… fail

From the day that the trailer for Edge of Tomorrow was revealed, it was surrounded by a buzz. With Tom Cruise playing the lead and the amazing visual effects, I was sure we were in for a mega summer blockbuster; in fact, the day the film was released in Pakistan, all the shows were sold out! The unrecognised daredevils of Pakistan

A recent photograph I took was of a small child, around ten-years-old, who was dangerously running on a round, two-foot diameter pipeline -shaped like a large tube – while wearing a pair of wet, oversized slippers. I saw children bathing in a nullah (pond) near a railway bridge. A train travels over this bridge to reach the Islamabad Dry Port and the Margallah railway station. A water pipeline runs across this nullah. Boys were jumping off the pipe, ...

Run Katie, run!

It hasn’t been a very happy birthday for A-list Hollywood actor Tom Cruise, aka Thomas Cruise Mapother IV, as he turned half a century in his Beverly Hills mansion while the rest of his country prepared for Fourth of July festivities. It’s not easy to maintain a straight face, even for an actor, when the world and it’s telephoto lenses are waiting to catch a glimpse of a wretched expression (after discovering one’s spouse has filed for divorce and sole legal custody of one’s beloved  and only biological child). And then there’s Katie, who’s become a worn-down shell of her previous Dawson’s ...

What MI 4 taught me

In a weak moment, I decided to watch Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol. I got roped into watching this movie despite the fact that I am not a fan of MI3, and I haven’t even seen MI1 or 2. Yet, sometimes in life you just have to sit back and be grateful; I am grateful that I watched MI4 because it taught me a few invaluable lessons. Please find below a list of things I learned from this movie (in order of appearance), and note that a few of these might be spoilers. American agents can plant/overtake ...
