Narcos: Mexico is high on everything we expected and then some

As soon as I was done with the third season of Narcos, I knew the fourth season was already on the cards. I also knew that the new season would offer something new as the Colombian chapter of the show had come to an end with the third season. It was in December 2017 that the new cast members were announced. When I got to know Michael Pena (End of Watch, Fury) and Diego Luna (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) were going to lead the cast, I was very excited to say the least. Soon it was also announced by ...

Ant-Man and the Wasp is highly entertaining but lacks the ‘Marvel oomph’

Ant-Man and the Wasp is the first Marvel release after Avengers: Infinity War. This is the third Marvel entry to feature Ant-Man, after Ant-Man (2015) and Captain America: Civil War (2016). Paul Rudd and the rest of the cast return to reprise their roles, while Peyton Reed returns to direct this sequel too. Only this time around, Reed was involved right from the start instead of taking over from Edgar Wright like he did in the prequel. I strongly believe that those who spoil good movies should be punished, which is why I will try keep myself from committing this sin ...

Can Ant-Man and the Wasp surpass its prequel, or will it be a case of one and the same?

Back in 2013, when Paul Rudd was cast as Ant-Man, a relatively unknown superhero, fans were quite sceptical about watching an entire movie about a man whose powers were comparable to an ant’s abilities. But fortunately, Rudd’s dedicated performance, a well-written, comical script and a talented supporting cast helped the movie gain worldwide praise and rack in plenty of moolah. Three years later, the trailer of its sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp finally dropped. Rudd, like he did in the prequel, has co-written the screenplay. Most of the cast has returned for the sequel with Walton Goggins (The Shield, Justified), ...

‘12 Strong’ is a cliché post 9/11 war movie glorifying the US military we’ve been seeing for the past 16 years

Remind me again, what year is this? 2017? Well, 16 years on, and Hollywood is still stuck at 9/11. Don’t get me wrong – I believe that the 9/11 attacks are one of the most significant events in modern history. However, I am sick and tired of how Tinseltown has painted the tragedy and its aftermath ever since. While the overtly nauseating patriotism displayed in these movies, and the lack of facts, might do well with the American public, for the rest of us, it’s just another way of how Uncle Sam – in cahoots with the influential Hollywood – wants ...

When good things come in ant-sized packages

Ant-Man is an American superhero film, produced by Marvel studios. Based upon a comic character with the same name, Ant-Man, the movie marks the conclusion of Marvel’s Phase Two of the Marvel cinematic universe.  Paul Rudd (Scott Lang) is starring as the lead role and is projected as a skilled albeit charming and street smart thief/ex-con who is seen helping his mentor cum friend, Dr Hank Pym (Michael Douglas). Dr Pym is the one who invented the technological wonder that is the “shrinking suit”. Photo: IMDb Photo: IMDb If you’re expecting Ant-Man to present the same pomp ...

Hell hath no ‘Fury’ like the Germans scorned!

Fury is a quintessential war movie that yet again reminds us of what horrors men are capable of when they wage war. It portrays and reveals the story of a lonely tank squad from the US army’s 66th armoured regiment, the second armoured division during the finishing days of the Second World War, and how they struggle to survive and endure in the face of un-seemingly terrible odds, behind enemy lines, in Nazi Germany. Starring in the lead role, as the central protagonist, is Brad Pitt who dons the character of a US sergeant Don ‘War Daddy’ Collier. He is a battle-hardened veteran who has experienced ...

Did Brad Pitt really get punched by a Hollywood prankster?

A crazy Ukrainian decided to make it his life’s mission to go parading from one Hollywood event to another, making a fool out of himself at the expense of our beloved celebrities. His latest whim consists of getting out of the fan gallery and jumping on Brad Pitt, allegedly to punch him. Yes, you read it right! This guy almost managed to punch one of the most handsome men on the planet. Brad Pitt, the American heartthrob, my childhood crush and the guy who has caused many accidents at the intersection of Punjab Colony with his face plastered across a huge billboard ...
