Stories about iPhone

“Daddy, I’ll eat pork tomorrow. I don’t want to be a Muslim.”

Some time ago, I came across an interview with Tahar Ben Jelloun – a Moroccan writer living in Paris. He talked a lot about things that any artist would talk about in an interview: his works and his inspirations, but what struck me most about his story was a short anecdote from his family life. Soon after the 9/11 attacks, his seven-year-old daughter had come to him and said, “Daddy, I’ll eat pork tomorrow. I don’t want to be a Muslim.” The little girl was overwhelmed by the voices around her, that equated Islam with violence and hatred, so much that ...

What is the point of marrying a woman if you can’t divorce her and marry four others?

The world has not been kind to men recently. After centuries of oppressing women and exchanging them as property, men cannot simply be asked to suddenly start treating them as people. I would claim that it goes against millions of years of evolution but any talk of evolution is haram so that point is moot. In this era of political correctness and Caitlyn Jenner, the last safe haven for men was Saudi Arabia – a utopian world where men could roam free without the distraction of women driving, women cycling and women breathing. If you claim you have seen a woman breathe in Saudi ...

We will remain a generation of idiots, unless we get it together

During my holiday in Singapore, I had the chance of seeing the world-renowned show Songs of the Sea at Sentosa Island. In between the show, I noticed a teenager sitting beside me. He looked at me as if I were a disinhibited moron, talking nonsense to strangers. With the advent of digital photography, the opportunities to take infinite pictures ...

Oh Daraz.pk, why you do me like that?

A few days ago, a friend called me to check the availability of the iPhone 6 in Karachi. Daraz.pk was the first place that came to my mind and I told him to order online from them instead of risking the market. To me, they were the most trusted online retailers. And to prove my faith in them, I ...
