Stories about Cersei Lannister

Game of Thrones Season 7: Is GoT slowly but surely crumbling under the weight of its own mythology?

*Spoilers lie ahead* There is a certain gleeful pleasure — I’m sure the Germans have a word for it — to being witness to a moment in which people learn information about themselves that you have known for long. What a pity it is then, that the long, eventful and yet largely unsurprising seventh season finale of Game Of Thrones denies us that pleasure. Before this episode, even casual viewers knew the truth about Jon Snow’s origins, that he isn’t Ned Stark’s bastard and that he is actually the legitimate son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark. Readers of the books and frequenters ...

Game of Thrones S07-E05: Mellow yet extremely important

After the fourth episode, I felt that Game of Thrones (GoT) would definitely slow its pace down for the fifth episode, which it did. This would have naturally made the episode quite dry in comparison to the nail-biting fourth episode, except it was quite the contrary.  Even though the fifth episode, Eastwatch, may not be the best one so far, it sure is the most important one. The fifth episode had quite a few important details that could completely turn the tables around for quite a few characters. In Winterfell, the northerners are still dismayed about their king, Jon Snow, deserting them and putting his sister, ...

Game of Thrones season 7: The great war is here

When we last left the world of the Seven Kingdoms at the end of season six of Game of Thrones, many narrative threads were resolved. Cersei Lannister blows up the Sept, vanquishing many of her enemies including the High Sparrow and the Tyrell siblings, and becoming Queen of Westeros in one fell swoop. Seasons-old questions were finally answered. Jon Snow is indeed the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen and the major contenders to the Iron Throne seem poised to finally battle for it out once and for all. Daenerys Targaryen finally sets across the Narrow Sea towards Westeros, having established allies ...

Game of Thrones Season 7 might see the end of Tyrion Lannister

Just like Melisandre brought Jon Snow back to life in season six, Game of Thrones (GoT) fans were resuscitated by producers after the teaser trailer for season seven was released on social media a few days ago. And the one-and-a-half minute teaser was as cryptic as GoT can get. Kit Harington in Game of Thrones. Photo: IMDb The trailer begins with sigils of all the major houses of Westeros, with famous dialogues by people belonging to these houses playing as the background score. We hear iconic lines from Daenerys Targaryen, the Mad King, Robert Baratheon, Cersei Lannister, Joffrey, Balon Greyjoy, Roose ...

Five ways Dr Palmer can even the score after murdering Cecil the lion

Author’s note: We do not condone any violence. This blog was for entertainment purposes only. In reality, we hope the United States extradites Dr Palmer to Zimbabwe where he can be tried on bribery charges. As news reports of the cruel and savage murder of Cecil spread across the internet like wildfire, my feelings of sadness were slowly replaced by disbelief. I couldn’t fathom how this noble (and apparently friendly) lion could be so remorselessly slain in a torturous ‘hunt’ which lasted several days. I say ‘hunt’ because Cecil was said to be so comfortable with human beings, that hunting him ...

Is Jon Snow going to die?

Before I begin, let me clarify that I have not read any of the Game of Thrones books and therefore, the theories provided here might seem a bit farfetched to those who have read the books. However, having said that, the incredulous roller-coaster journey that George RR Martin and the makers of this show have taken us through has made me believe that anything is truly possible. So in light of all that, here is a list of 10 fan theories ranging from the most plausible to the downright insane, that discuss this brilliant show in all its shades: 1) R ...

GoT Season 5 Episode 1 brings death to King’s Landing

By now you would (read: should) have seen the first episode of Game of Thrones (GoT) season five. Despite leaving us for months at a time, GoT has a way of sucking you back into the world of Westeros every single season. Even when our favourite characters are (wrongfully) killed, they are replaced with new characters inhabiting different worlds, and just like life, the story goes on; Vlar Morghulis. This season began with the first flashback scene of the season. HBO show producers David Beinoff and DB Weiss were sternly against any flashbacks scenes. However, by putting the scene at the ...

Game of Thrones – What to expect from season 5

For most of the world, spring is just around the corner – but for HBO’s Game of Thrones fans “winter is coming”, as the new season kicks off on April 12, 2015. Game of Thrones is one of the most widely watched shows of this decade and is increasingly becoming part of the urban culture due to its surging popularity. However, for me, the charm of the show started to fade sometime last season. Yes, I am one of those I-have-read-the-books people and as the show drifted further away from the books, it left me exceedingly frustrated as significant subplots and characters ...

Game of Thrones Season 6 comes to Pakistan

There are rumours flying around of production beginning on an Indian version of Game of Thrones (GoT). We let India sneak ahead in the nuclear arms race but we seem to be far ahead of them in the television dramas race. However, this could be a game-changer – to ensure we maintain our advantage we must make our own version of GoT before India! To make the job easier for all prospective producers, I have taken the liberty of casting the Pakistani Game of Thrones. 1. Mahira Khan as Daenerys Targaryen Our latest export to Bollywood is really the only option to play ...

Tyrion Lannister is the best thing to happen to Game of Thrones

There is an obsession with TV series these days, particularly amongst the youth. New seasons are being awaited with much anticipation, especially popular ones like Suits, House of Cards, Scandal and, of course, Game of Thrones. You would find trailers of upcoming seasons on your newsfeed and much discussion on the storyline, quotes and characters shown so far, along with predictions of what might happen next. Quizzes such as “which character of a particular series are you”, and the likes, are common sight.

The euphoria grips everyone. As for me, my most favourite TV series thus far is Game of ...
