Stories about Benjamin Netanyahu

Does Netanyahu hate Palestinians so much that he is blaming them for the Holocaust?

The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, always the very popular man in the Muslim world, had a revelation to share with the universe a few days ago. He stated that the very man responsible for the genocide of six million Jews in the world, Adolf Hitler, had no intentions of killing them after all.   Who would have thought? In fact, it had been a Palestinian, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, who had convinced him to do it. Of course, it had to be a Muslim that led him astray. The Mufti, Haj al-Husseini apparently whispered melodiously “Burn Jews” in Hitler’s ears; his eyes ...

Putin’s affair with Obama: Lacklustre and awkwardly painful

Touted as ‘the greatest political show on earth’, one was expecting the 70th UNGA session to achieve some success in terms of reaching an agreement on the on-going Syrian crisis. It was hoped that the integration of ideas would prompt the powers that be to move their butts and take steps to end unnecessary slaughter of human lives, values and everything that matters to our existence. I don’t even know why and for what the UN stands for anymore. I was an avid supporter of the organisation in my younger years but as I have evolved, I feel disenchanted by the impotency of the institution. ...

What Pakistan can learn from the Iran nuclear deal

After 13 years of struggling and negotiating, a deal has finally been concluded between Iran and the West that rightfully is called ‘historical’. The main bone of contention has been the Western fear that Iran might be developing nuclear weapons, which could destroy Israel and change the balance of power in the Middle East. Though the newly concluded long-term agreement is supposed to prevent this, Israel and Saudi Arabia, a newly found friend of Israel, have been first to condemn this agreement before the ink on agreement was dry. Despite the fact that Iran always insisted that it was developing nuclear facilities for peaceful energy production only and ...

What Netanyahu’s victory means for Palestinians

The latest chapter of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict saw Benjamin Netanyahu winning a key March 17th election. The victory provided drama and controversy. Trailing in the polls a few days before the vote, he garnered accusations of racism by saying, “Arabs are coming out in droves to the polling stations. Leftist NGOs are busing them in.” He was also accused of breaking a promise regarding a two-state solution, as quoted in the New York Times, “I think that anyone who is going to establish a Palestinian state today and evacuate lands is giving attack grounds to the radical Islam against the state of Israel.” Let’s examine. Netanyahu ...

Is ISIS funded by Israel? Does that even matter?

“Let our position be absolutely clear, any attempt by any outside force to gain control of the Persian Gulf region will be regarded as an assault on the vital interests of the United States of America and such an assault will be repelled by any means necessary, including military force” – President Jimmy Carter, State of the Union address 1980. Islam, Judaism and Christianity are the three mightiest religions on the globe… and then there is oil. The American interest in the region is obvious; the American clout in the region is obvious; the American biases in the region are obvious and ...

Are we going through the South Asian Complex?

When Israel resumed its onslaught on the people of Gaza, social networking sites became a medium of protests from around the world. But in Pakistan, there were mixed reactions. Some were quite exasperating, to be honest. Despite hearing the news about Israeli jets hovering over Gaza like death angels, carrying out experimental strikes on local residents, some Pakistanis have been quite thick-skinned. There were those who disregarded the issue as an international dispute, while others felt that Semitism is the root cause of the conflict, although both Arabs and Jews are Semites. But the most juvenile counter arguments I found were the ones which ...

Who is to be blamed for the Gaza conflict?

Bring up Gaza in a mixed setting and you will hear a myriad of passionate responses. It is a complex and sensitive issue with a troubled history. One thing is for certain though that it is difficult to talk about it without saying a prayer for the innocents caught up in the violence and those that have passed away. The Gaza conflict has been allowed to go on for far too long, fuelled in fact by delusion from both sides and the refusal to accept facts instead of heated emotions and false rhetoric. Israel accuses Hamas of indiscriminately launching rocket attacks that has ...

Palestine cannot agree to a Jewish state

For months, US Secretary of State John Kerry had been involved in the strenuous task of achieving the famous ‘Two State Solution’. This meant the co-existence of a Jewish democratic state alongside a Palestinian state, with Jerusalem being the shared capital between the two. Unfortunately, and quite predictably, this project exceeded its announced deadline, and we were left with another stalemate of a situation with no end to the hostilities and a severe political deadlock. One of the fundamental demands by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was the recognition of Israel as a Jewish state. The Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) outright rejected ...

It’s Israel who is the real super power, not the US

Within a few days of Israeli air strikes, 130 Palestinians including at least 11 civilians, among them, six children and a pregnant woman were killed. An 11-month-old child, who was the son of a BBC Arabic correspondent, was killed too. Five Israelis also have died since Israel killed Hamas’ military chief on Wednesday.
Middle East peace envoy and former British prime minister Tony Blair, without wasting time, showed his allegiance to Israel and called on Hamas on Thursday to stop firing rockets from Gaza into Israel. He said that as long as it continued, the Jewish state would act to defend ...
