Can Asghar Farhadi bag another Oscar for The Salesman?

For those of you who are not familiar with his work, Farhadi is arguably the leader of the new Iranian wave in cinema.

The Salesman is the new Iranian film by master filmmaker, Asghar Farhadi

The story revolves around an Iranian couple (Shahab Hosseini and Taraneh Alidoosti) who after an earthquake, are forced to move into a new apartment. They both work as actors and are relatively happy with their current situation. But tragedy strikes when an intruder invades their home in the absence of the husband and he is now in search for the culprit.

For those of you who are not familiar with his work, Farhadi is arguably the leader of the new Iranian wave in cinema, especially of course, after the tragic death of Abbas Kiraostami last year.

Farhadi’s film, ‘A Separation’won an Academy Award in 2012 and now his film The Salesman is yet again nominated for a foreign film academy award of 2017.
