I know things haven't exactly been very rosy in Karachi of late, but I was out and about yesterday, and couldn't help but notice how drastically travel times across the city have been reduced. Although admittedly, it was a working day and I was not exactly out at a rush hour (it was 4pm-ish), but kudos to the city government for doing a great job of planning and maintaining the infrastructure in the city.

And thanks to the signal-free corridors, I was able to get from North Karachi to Malir Cantt in a mere 25 minutes. Imagine that! I'm sure travel times are much lesser for people who live in more central parts of the city.

For an exile who's been visiting Karachi on and off for the last two years, it felt real good. Kudos to the government, for once, and to Mustafa Kamal of course. Well done!

Cervet Cahn | 13 years ago | Reply @S.A.R.A I believe MQM's loyalties lie with Karachi and Hyderabad only. That's quite natural in our political parties what is called "Ilaqaiyyat", in Desi Language.

imran | 13 years ago | Reply but at the same time it’s a bit confusing for the 1st few times...i remember last yr i was in karachi and was going to see my friend at water-pump fm sakhi hassan...my brother warned me about the lack of u-turns if one gets on a wrong flyover...i just brushed his advise aside....the road was quite smooth and impressive on nagan-chorangi...which is BTW not a chorangi any more but something out of a Hollywood movie...two flyovers on top of each other...quite good so far....the road till shorab ghoot flyover was nothing I hv seen before and it took me not more than 5 mins...I remember in my uni days the same stretch of road took about 20-30 mins to cross and with the thick layer of dust covering ur whole body...as I approach shorab ghoot flyover I could see 3 sideways and a way for the flyover...I took the one next to the FO thinking that there would be a right turn...but I was amaze to see I ended up in the direction where I came fm... and my brother was right abt the lack of u turns...infect i found one exactly in the middle b/w nagan and S-ghoot...i took the u-turn towards S-ghoot...while i was approaching S-ghoot FO i was thinking i hv gone behind one door which one should i explore next...i got on the FO thinking it might hv an exit...but my bad luck there was none....and again the same thing i found a u-turn half way b/w S-ghoot and Gulshan....this time after taking the u-turn i had enough of this signal-free corridor thing..and took my car on roads which r old, battered, dusty, infested with pot holes and signals....and got to me friend house...later on i found out that i should hv taken the 2nd side way...which is a under pass that takes u toward Aysha-manzel......
