On September 7, 2019, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) failed to maintain contact with the Vikram Lander when it was only 2.1 kilometres away from touching down on the moon. Mission Chandrayaan 2 was over for now. This was India’s second attempt to land on the moon after Chandrayaan 1 in 2008. The aim of this space mission was to become the first spacecraft to land on the moon’s South Pole.
