Six pair of fabulous heels that will take you to shoe heaven

Being branded from head to toe is perhaps best suited for Hollywood celebrities who get freebies. For us mere mortals, style has to be a mix of some serious smart choices mixed with creativity and imagination.

If you live in the fear of wasting a lot of money on ‘branded’ accessories which will soon be out of style, here is a list of six classic shoes which in some cases have been around long before us and in other cases will be there long after us. If you have the moulah to invest in a fabulous pair of heels, then start with these.

1. Piaglle by Christian Louboutin

Named after one of his favourite neighbourhoods in Paris, the ‘Piaglle’ is one of Monsieur Louboutin’s first highly coveted styles that has achieved an almost cult status. With a high heel and pointed toe, this shoe is versatile enough to go with just about anything. Starting at approximately $600, this shoe is available in many colours and embellished variations. I’d personally deem Pigalle a worthy investment as this is one shoe that’s never going out of style.

2. Lance by Jimmy Choo

This Jimmy Choo superstar made its debut in the summer of 2008 and since then has not looked back. A hot favourite with celebrities including Jennifer Aniston, Blake Lively, Rihanna and a long list of other A-listers. The ultimate ‘strappy’ shoe, the Lance starts at $775. If you have pretty feet, there is no reason why you shouldn’t have this pretty shoe.

3. Hangisi by Manolo Blahnik

Remember the shoe that reunited Carrie and Big at the end of the movie, Sex and The City? Not only are they still around, they’re still flying off the shelves, making Mr Blahnik a very happy man. Rumour has it that this one was specifically designed for the movie, when Carrie picks it as her ‘something blue’. But regardless of where it came from, this satin pump (available in every colour under the sun) isn’t going anywhere.

4. Yves Saint Laurent Tribute sandal

Launched in 2007, the YSL Tribute sandal (also pumps) was an instant hit with the celebrities. I have to admit, platforms aren’t exactly my cup of tea but if these have survived the last seven years of ever changing shoe styles, I’d say they’ll be around probably forever. The heel and ‘subtle’ platforms give a 1970s ‘YSL Heyday’ vibe.

5. Two toned Chanel beige and black pumps

With the Little Black Dress (LBD) in 1926 and her quilted handbag in 1955, the designer broke convention once more and the two-toned, toe-dipped sling-back slipper was formed in 1957. Coco’s reasons for the design were simple - it meant she could gallivant around playing sports and going on trips, without visibly dirtying her shoes. The pump, however, is almost as iconic as the LBD and the quilted handbag and has been going strong since its inception.

6. Valentino Rockstud

When creative directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli decided to push Valentino beyond the Red Ruffles, the genius solution they came up with was the ‘Rockstud’ range. The new cult shoe in town, the Valentino Rockstuds were introduced in 2010 and have since gained popularity owing to two things.

First, the number of colours and styles they’re available in, and second, the different heights of the heel, ranging from flats to four inches, with the two and a half inches perhaps being the most popular, a size usually considered for the more conservative fashionistas previously.

Given Chiuri and Piccioli’s history (they are also credited with the designing of Fendi’s iconic bagette), chances are the Rockstuds will be equally popular for some time to come.

I don’t know about you, but I’m definitely in shoe heaven right now!

Commemtator | 8 years ago | Reply @blogger Sadaf Zarrar Please tell us how many Pakistanis can afford these branded heels?? Your mentioned prices are "Starting at approximately $600, starts at $775".... Have you calculated the price in Pakistani Rupees ?? Even women from good backgrounds with slightly above average income bracket can't afford all these shoes.
