Revolution is in the air

I watch the men in charge, giving excuses for this state, inhale the winds of change for, revolution is in the air!

I watch the electronic window,
In the corner of my room,
I see the cricketer promise,
An exit from this doom,
I see the cleric swing his fist,
Throwing curses everywhere,
Inhale the winds of change for,
Revolution is in the air!

I watch the men in charge,
Giving excuses for this state,
I notice in the anchor’s tone,
Frequencies of distaste,
I see the opposition complain,
As if they really care,
Inhale the winds of change for,
Revolution is in the air!

I see my streets burn,
In the fire of mistrust,
I see the protesters yelling,
As they burn another bus,
Behind which the owner stands,
Asking if this is fair,
Inhale the winds of change for,
Revolution is in the air!

I leave my dwelling at dusk,
To buy a loaf of bread,
I see an elder begging,
For a roof above his head,
“Repay my lifelong honesty”,
Proclaim the white of his hair,
Inhale the winds of change for,
Revolution is in the air!

I come across a youngster,
Educated he claims to be,
He wants to fetch his work,
Far across the sea,
To stay and serve this country,
Is a feat he would not dare,
Inhale the winds of change for,
Revolution is in the air!

The price of bread I learn,
Has risen yet again,
The wise shopkeeper too has,
His own accounts of pain,
“Talk not about the country sir,
Just give me my due share”,
Inhale the winds of change for,
Revolution is in the air!

The children in the compound,
Carry on with their quest,
Of hiding first and seeking then,
They play with infinite zest,
From the concerns of their parents,
They seem quite unaware,
Inhale the winds of change for,
Revolution is in the air!

I turn open the idiot box,
After obtaining my packet of starch,
The cricketer claims a clean-sweep,
The cleric is ending his march,
“Democracy is the best revenge!”
Remains the stance of the Chair,
Inhale the winds of change for,
Revolution is in the air!

Revolution! Revolution!
Revolution is in the air!
